TEAC X-7R
Overview
The TEAC X-7R is a stereo open-reel tape deck with auto-reverse operation, produced from 1979 to 1981. It records and plays back reel-to-reel tapes and provides a way to include open-reel sources in a component hi-fi system.
Why This Model Matters
Auto-reverse lets the deck continue playback in the opposite direction when the tape reaches its end, reducing the need to stop and handle the reel. The X-7R belongs to TEAC’s late-1970s home tape-deck range, when open-reel decks served both recording and serious playback roles alongside cassette and disc sources.
