The Sonus faber Maxima Amator is a two-way floorstanding loudspeaker with a solid-walnut cabinet and a Port Saint Laurent marble base. Its driver pairing combines a 28 mm DAD tweeter with a 180 mm midwoofer.
Why This Model Matters
The model applies a two-driver philosophy to a floorstanding cabinet rather than adding a larger multi-way array. Its IFF crossover is a defining part of the design, developed to integrate the tweeter and midwoofer within that architecture. The solid wood, leather, brass, and marble give it a distinctly material-led appearance. As with any passive speaker, the final setup should consider the amplifier, distance from room boundaries, and listening position alongside the cabinet itself.

Who It's For
For listeners who prefer a two-way speaker’s straightforward driver layout but want a full-height cabinet. It suits a stereo system that values natural materials and deliberate room placement.
