The Sansui AU-6600 is a highly sought-after vintage solid-state integrated stereo amplifier manufactured from 1974 to 1976. This model delivers a continuous 42 watts per channel into an 8-ohm load across a frequency response of 10 Hz to 40,000 Hz, though benchmark benches frequently document it clipping clean at up to 55 watts with absolute channel stability. Exhibiting a total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 0.15% at full rated output, its internal layout features a dedicated pre-main separation switch on the rear panel, enabling it to function independently as a standalone control preamplifier or as a dedicated power amplifier with a damping factor of 30. The front panel is engineered for granular acoustic tailoring, deploying Sansui's versatile triple tone control system for separate bass, midrange, and treble adjustments, alongside a variable tone selector switch to modify roll-off and turnover frequencies. Connectivity is anchored by a high-gain phono stage operating at an input sensitivity of 2.5 mV and a customizable input impedance matrix switchable between 30k, 50k, and 100k ohms, a selectable -20 dB audio muting attenuator, high/low filters, and secondary routing for dual tape monitoring loops and two auxiliary input lanes. Wrapped in a stealthy, signature 25-pound black chassis with machined aluminum control knobs.
