Russound
Russound R275HC
Russound R275HC
Overview
The Russound R275HC is a two-channel high-current power amplifier designed for distributed-audio systems, speaker-selector installations, and other applications where stability and practical control matter as much as headline wattage. It delivers 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms, 100 watts per channel into 4 ohms, or 200 watts into an 8-ohm load when bridged for mono operation.
Unlike a conventional living-room power amplifier, the R275HC was engineered around installation flexibility. Rear-panel level controls allow the amplifier’s gain to be matched to a system, while automatic signal sensing can place it in standby when no source is playing. A selectable low-cut filter helps protect autoformer-based volume controls and speaker selectors from demanding low-frequency energy—a useful feature in whole-house audio systems with long cable runs and multiple rooms.
Why This Model Matters
Russound built its reputation in custom and multiroom audio, and the R275HC reflects that background. Its toroidal power transformer, low-impedance capability, bridgeable output, and protection circuitry make it a purpose-built workhorse rather than a decorative audiophile component.
That practical design also makes it versatile outside its original context. It can power a secondary listening zone, passive outdoor speakers, a demanding pair of conventional loudspeakers, or a single mono channel requiring more output. The front panel is deliberately simple; most setup functions are placed at the rear and adjusted once during installation.
