Rotel RCC-945
Rotel RCC-945
Overview
The Rotel RCC-945 is a six-disc compact-disc changer built for listeners who wanted extended playback without giving up the feel of a traditional full-size hi-fi component. Its shuttle mechanism holds six discs, allowing albums to be selected individually or programmed into longer listening sequences.
Why This Model Matters
CD changers were often treated as convenience products, but Rotel approached the RCC-945 as a proper audio source. The owner’s manual identifies a 1-bit pulse-width-modulated digital-to-analog converter with second-order delta-sigma noise shaping, a design intended to provide clean conversion with relatively simple filtering. The player also includes a digital output, allowing it to serve as a multi-disc transport with an external digital processor or compatible receiver.
The six-disc shuttle format is part of the model’s appeal. Unlike cartridge-style changers, the discs remain individually accessible, and the machine can be used much like a normal single-disc player while still offering hours of uninterrupted playback. Programming, repeat, random play, and disc-skip functions make it practical for background listening, parties, or anyone who prefers loading a group of albums at once.

Who It’s For
The RCC-945 is a good match for listeners who value the convenience of a changer but still want a component from a respected specialist audio brand. It is especially useful in a secondary system, workshop, retail space, or vintage setup where long play time and simple operation matter as much as format nostalgia.
