Rega
Rega BRIO3
Rega BRIO3
Overview
The Rega BRIO3 is a compact British integrated amplifier introduced in the mid-2000s as the third major version of Rega’s long-running Brio. Rated at 49 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 64 watts into 4 ohms, it combines five analog inputs with a built-in moving-magnet phono stage in a simple, music-first design.
Rega kept the feature list deliberately lean. There is no digital section, tone control circuit, or elaborate display—just straightforward source switching, volume control, and a circuit intended to preserve timing, clarity, and musical flow.
Why This Model Matters
The BRIO3 earned a strong reputation because it delivered the qualities associated with Rega’s more expensive amplifiers at an attainable price. Contemporary reviewers praised its cohesion, focus, articulation, and ability to keep complex music organized without sounding clinical.
Its phono input also made it a natural partner for Rega turntables and other moving-magnet cartridges. For many listeners, the BRIO3 became an appealing center for a compact vinyl-based system: modest in size, easy to use, and more energetic than its power rating might suggest.
Highlights
- 49 watts per channel into 8 ohms
- 64 watts per channel into 4 ohms
- Built-in moving-magnet phono stage
- Four additional line-level inputs
- Compact, minimalist British design
- Known for cohesive, rhythmically engaging performance
Who It’s For
The BRIO3 suits listeners who value musical involvement over an extensive feature list. It is especially attractive for a compact analog system built around efficient bookshelf or floorstanding speakers and a quality turntable.
