McIntosh MC255 5-Channel Power Amplifier
McIntosh MC255 5-Channel Power Amplifier
Overview
The McIntosh MC255 is a five-channel home theater power amplifier rated at 200 watts per channel into 4 or 8 ohms. When operating only its front three channels, it provides 250 watts per channel. The TripleView meter displays output for those front channels.
Why This Model Matters
The MC255 concentrates on the amplification a conventional five-speaker theater needs. Dynamic Power Manager supports the specified output across its rated impedances, and passive cooling avoids a cooling fan in the listening space. Its front-three operating mode is useful when a system dedicates this amplifier to left, center, and right while other amplifiers handle the remaining speakers. Balanced and unbalanced inputs allow connection to different surround processors.
Highlights
- 200 watts per channel with five channels operating

Who It's For
For listeners using a separate surround processor who need five channels of substantial power, or a powerful front-stage amplifier that leaves other channels to additional equipment. Plan the channel assignment before selecting the amplifier.
