The McIntosh C29 is a highly regarded solid-state stereo preamplifier manufactured from 1978 to 1985, drawing a modest 45 watts of line power from the wall. The C29 features an integrated, high-current headphone amplifier stage that outputs 0.75 volts into an 8-ohm load via dedicated dual front-panel jacks. For core system routing, its main preamp output delivers a rated 2.5 volts with a remarkably low source impedance of less than 100 ohms, designed to interface seamlessly into any standard 10,000-ohm or greater power amplifier.
