Marantz
Marantz Model 2015
Marantz Model 2015
Overview
The Marantz Model 2015 is one of the smallest receivers from the company’s classic early-1970s silver-face era. Rated at 15 watts per channel into 8 ohms, it combines an AM/FM tuner, moving-magnet phono stage, auxiliary and tape connections, and the unmistakable Marantz look in a compact chassis.
Produced in the mid-1970s, the 2015 was designed for listeners who wanted the styling and control layout of larger Marantz receivers without their higher price, size, or power output. Its blue-lit dial, horizontal tuning wheel, symmetrical faceplate, and optional wood cabinet give it the same family identity as the better-known 22xx-series models.
Why This Model Matters
The 2015 is sometimes called a “baby Marantz,” and the nickname is fair: it delivers the visual experience and basic functionality of classic Marantz in a format suited to smaller rooms and efficient speakers. It is not a powerhouse, but that is part of its charm. In a properly matched system, 15 clean watts can be entirely satisfying.
Its appeal comes less from rarity or raw specifications than from proportion, usability, and design. The 2015 is a genuine Marantz receiver from the brand’s most recognizable period, not a later imitation of that style.

Who It’s For
