With only the front three channels operating, its rating rises to 250 watts per channel. A TripleView meter shows the front-channel outputs together.

Why This Model Matters

Seven amplified channels let a separate surround processor drive a substantial theater speaker layout from one power amplifier. The MC257 retains a fanless design, an important practical consideration when equipment sits near the audience. Dynamic Power Manager supports its load ratings, while McIntosh’s protection circuitry monitors operation. In an immersive theater, it can handle a chosen group of seven speakers while additional amplification serves height channels or another zone.

Highlights

Seven channels at 200 watts per channel

250 watts per channel with only the front three active

Rated for 4- and 8-ohm speakers

TripleView power metering

Fanless cooling; Power Guard and Sentry Monitor

Who It's For

For home theater owners who prefer separate processing and amplification and need seven strong power channels.
